Va de Agro: the big FEUGA event on agrifood and forestry sectors co-innovation - Santiago de Compostela, Spain

Co-innovation is the keyword chosen by FEUGA – Fundación Empresa Universidad Gallega for the event Va de Agro. Co-innovando en el sector agroalimentario y forestal.
This meeting is part of the activities for communication and dissemination of four innovation projects: AVIENERGY, MICOALGA-FEED, PROTEINLEG and TIRAC. The aim of the meeting is to create a network that gathers the projects operating in the agrifood and forestry sectors, promoting new ideas and activities.
WalNUT project will be presented by the consortium partner CETAQUA during the meeting. The main focus of the presentation poster will be on WalNUT general objectives with a specific section dedicate to the Galicia region, Spain, where one of the pilot plants is located. This is a good opportunity for WalNUT to expand its network of sister project and to be known by potential stakeholders.
The meeting has a rich schedule of talks, roundtables, networking lunch and exhibition areas.

Sustainable Solid Waste Management – 9th International Conference - Corfu, Greece

WalNUT will take part in the 9th International Conference on Sustainable Solid Waste Management will take place in Corfu on the 15th-17th of June.
The aim of the conference is to make a step forward in the field of solid waste management through the promotion of innovative technologies and effective practices. This year the conference will host of over 600 participants from 80 countries and 9 international scientific journals.
The CORFU 2022 Conference willstimulate the interest of scientific community, public and private stakeholders, policy makers and citizens on the latest achievements in the field of solid waste management with special emphasis on municipal solid waste.
The priority in the conference agenda is given to the topics of waste prevention, source separation, recycling and production of secondary materials, biological treatment (aerobic & anaerobic) and the treatment at central facilities.
WalNUT project will take be a part of this huge conference with a talk on Friday 17th at 15:00 called “Closing waste water cycles for nutrient recovery” delivered by F. Corona, S. Sanz-Bedate, J.M. Martin-Marroquin, D. Hidalgo, J. Castro and L. Garrote from CARTIF- Centro Tecnólogico and ITAP Institute- University of Valladolid.
For WalNUT it is crucial to work in synergy with other European projects, building a collaboration network that is as big as possible and fostering knowledge exchange at European and global level. The Corfu conference, with its hundreds of participants and chances for interactions, will offer a perfect stage to show WalNUT methodologies, aims and strategies.

The role of biorefineries in European agriculture - Ghent, Belgium

The first edition of the Biorefine Conference ‘The role of biorefineries in European agriculture’, will take place on 30th and 31st May in Ghent, Belgium.
The event is organised by Biorefine Cluster Europe, a network of projects and initiatives in the field of biobased resources recovery.
The aim of the conference is to highlighting the current research innovations in six main Biorefine’s domains related to sustainable resource management and circular economy systems: nutrient recycling and recovery, renewable energy, water recovery and use, biomaterials & eco-design, biochemicals and value chain assessment.
WalNUT project will be presented in the afternoon session on May 31st at 4 pm. The session focus on finding resource-oriented solutions for water recovery and reuse.
The aim of the Biorefine conference is to foster a fruitful discussion among the participants, highlighting the recent technological developments and the concrete solutions to make the transition to circular economy work in practice.

ESNI Conference 2022 - Online event

WalNUT will be present at the third edition of the European Sustainable Nutrient Initiative which will take place on Tuesday 29 March 2022 from 9:30 to 12:30 CET.
The event will offer a platform for fruitful discussion and exchange of knowledge on nutrient recycling in Europe. Policy-makers, researchers, industry representatives and many other stakeholders will discuss how to raise awareness on the benefits of nutrient recycling and reuse (NRR).
ESNI will be the occasion to launch the Nutrient Recycling Community, a platform intended to foster the collaboration with relevant initiatives and projects on nutrient recycling in Europe.
The event will also include a policy session organised by Circular Agronomics which will discuss ways to achieve the goals set by the Farm to Fork strategy for reduction in nutrient losses by 2030. This will feed from the results and experience developed in Circular Agronomics as well as in three other projects funded through the H2020 programme.
